- Addresses new CMS interpretation for carts that indicates when not in use they should be stored in a locked room or tethered to the wall (Found In: State Operations Manual Appendix A - Survey Protocol, Regulations and Interpretive Guidelines (Rev. 1, 05-21-04) A - 0254 482.25 (b)(2).
- For that extra margin of safety, this alarm tether secures carts to the wall, desk, nurses station, or other immobile object and provides an audible alarm when an unauthorized user moves the cart and breaks the tether connection.
- Use for carts that may not be under constant visual surveillance.
- During normal authorized use the alarm can quickly be deactivated by inserting and turning a key in the alarm lock.
- Alarm is loud enough to alert personnel to unauthorized use of the cart; yet subdued enough not to be obnoxious.
- Two keys are included. Replacement keys and alternate keying options are available through our Resource Department.
- Alarm is operated by a 9-volt alkaline battery. Battery is not included.
- Battery condition can be checked on a regular basis by pressing the battery test button located on the alarm module. If the alarm sounds the battery is good.
- Includes: alarm module, 8 ft. tether with alarm sensor, two alcohol wipes, double sided mounting tape, two keys, and instructions.
- Dimensions: 3-7/8"L x 2-13/16"W x 13/16"H (98mm x 71mm x 21mm)
Mounting Options
- Simple to mount! The alarm module attaches to the wall, desk at nurses station, or other immobile object with the included double sided tape. Tape is very aggressive, making the alarm very difficult to remove without notice. The 8 ft. coiled tether with alarm sensor is looped around the cart handle, drawer handle, or other attachement.
- An alternative mounting option allows the cart(s) to be tethered at various stations around the nursing unit. This allows for both mobility and security while on medication rounds. In this configuration the alarm mounts to the cart and the tether points outside a patient's room. This allows for a secure cart when the caregiver is away from it and with the patient.
