- Problem! More and more drug manufacturers are making orally disintegrating tablets that are moisture and heat sensitive. ODT's cannot be repackaged in the standard punch card because they are fragile and will crush/disintegrate when removed from the ODT original packaging.
- The same size as a punch card, the Box-Card stores and dispenses ODT medication in the manufacturers original unit dose package.
- Once the Box-Card is filled, the patient's prescription label can be applied and the box is ready for delivery.
- Since the Box-Card is the same size as a standard punch card, it keeps medication in a format that is compatible with monthly med exchange systems without causing problems in the pharmacy and the nursing facility.
- This system is made to keep all ODT's in the same flow as regular tab/caps.
- Allows pharmacies to credit unused product since it is in the original sealed unit package.
- Box-Card eliminates using the original manufacturer's boxes! Med carts are very compact not allowing for many varying methods of packaging. If ODT's are sent in the manufacturer's original boxes, they would have to be stored in a different drawer of the cart and would need to be reordered separately.
- Box-Cards are ideal for exchanges! Original manufacturer's boxes are not conducive to pre-pack exchange and do not fit uniformly in a med drawer.
- If the original manufacturer's boxes are placed in med carts, it can cause missed orders and increase the chance for a med error.
- Pharmacies are converting scripts to ODT from regular tab/cap for cost savings. Since the ODT does not have to be repackaged and can be labeled and sent to the patient, the Box-Card Dispensing System will help pharmacies take advantage of these benefits.
- Box-Card has write-in blanks for medication, strength, expiration date, manufacturer, lot number, filled by, and checked by.
